Kate has more than 25 years’ experience in journalism, financial communications, crisis management and corporate affairs as well as private business operations. After commencing her career at as a financial journalist at The Advertiser, The Age (Melbourne & Canberra Press Gallery), and The Australian Financial Review, she transferred her skills to financial communications, acting as the lead communications adviser on a wide range of major M&A and equity capital markets transactions across a variety of sectors. Her clients have included Saint-Gobain, Whitehaven Coal, Anglo-American, Domino’s Pizza, David Jones, Goodman Fielder, AMP, BHP and Allianz.
Kate has lived and worked in regional/rural areas with significant involvement in local communities and agribusiness, providing even greater dimension to her corporate experience and her understanding of the requirements of communicating with diverse audiences on complex issues. Her knowledge of corporate history and broader business strategy and objectives provides valuable insight to clients and our financial communications team.
While raising a young family she qualified as a Secondary Economics and English teacher and has worked in regional high schools and a primary school in a local indigenous community. She is Vice President of the Children’s Medical Research Institute’s extremely active Quirindi Fundraising Committee.
She was instrumental in the development of the highly successful Kortlang/Gavin Anderson financial communications practice and subsequently established her own firm, Kate Kerrison + Company.
Kate has a BA (journalism) and a Master of Teaching (Secondary) and is currently undertaking a Grad Dip, English Literature.
